Keeping Cable Trays Secure on Ships Allows for Smooth Sailing

Cable tray systems support electric cables that are used for power distribution and communication throughout a ship. Without cable tray systems, wiring is vulnerable to outside interference which can lead to communication, power, and navigation issues. The best way to firmly secure cables to the tray system is by using stainless steel banding or stainless steel cable ties. The weight of the cable determines whether to use stainless steel banding or stainless steel cable ties. Stainless steel cable ties are used for light weight cables, but heavy cables require stainless steel banding. What’s the difference between these two products? Stainless steel cable ties are light weight, fixed length and have a preassembled clasp. Stainless steel banding is wider and thicker and comes on a coil that allows the user to choose any length.Stainless steel banding can be fastened with either a wing seal or buckle. Using stainless steel banding to contain the wires provides a much stronger clamp. Stainless steel cable ties and stainless steel banding from LONYOU ELECTRIC are also available with a high tech polymer coating. The coating has both a high temperature and a low temperature performance rating so it is suitable for extreme marine environments.  The coating provides extra dielectric protection and additional corrosion resistance, which is particularly important in installations exposed to salt water.
